Sidney Hollister

Sid got his start in the world of environmentalism working with the Sierra Club in the mid-Sixties. On receiving a Master's degree in film at San Francisco State University, he focused his work on the then-emergent world of environmental cinema. After several years as an editor for the Carnegie Commission on the Future of Higher Education, he moved to France where he worked as a translator–and adopted his trademark beret. Returning to San Francisco, he wrote and executive-produced films for corporate media.

A long-time member of the Dolphin Swimming and Boating Club, in 2003 Sid was recruited as one of the original screeners for the International Ocean Film Festival. He has also juried films for the Maritime and Environmental Film Festival at Toulon, France.
